Acrylamide (AM) is an unsaturated monomer containing an amide group that plays a role in glass fiber adhesives mainly through polymerization reactions:
Formation of polymer network: acrylamide monomer through free radical polymerization to generate polyacrylamide (PAM), the amide group (-CONH₂) on the molecular chain can form hydrogen bond with the hydroxyl group (-OH) on the surface of glass fiber, enhance the adhesion between the adhesive and the fiber.
Adjust the bonding property: by copolymerization with other monomers (such as acrylic acid, methacrylate, etc.), the flexibility, water resistance, heat resistance and other characteristics of the adhesive can be adjusted to adapt to different application scenarios.
Improve the construction process: acrylamide adhesives are usually water-soluble or water-dispersive systems, with low VOC (volatile organic compounds), environmentally friendly characteristics, in line with the requirements of modern industry for environmental protection.
Features and advantages
Environmental protection: water as solvent, low toxicity (need to control monomer residue < 0.1%), in line with the EU REACH and other regulations.
Strong adaptability: through molecular design can be customized to meet different fiber types (such as alkali, alkali free glass fiber) and process requirements.
Cost advantage: acrylamide monomer source is wide, polymerization process is mature, the overall cost is lower than epoxy, phenolic adhesives
