Acrylamide is a white powder with a density of 1.32g/cm³, a glass transition temperature of 188°C, and a softening temperature of nearly 210°C. With the general method of drying, it still contains a small amount of water, and when it dries, it will quickly absorb water from the environment. The homopolymer separated by the freeze-drying method is a white soft amorphous solid.

Powder
Acrylamide crystal is a solid form of acrylamide (AM). The chemical molecular formula is C₃H₅NO, and its molecular weight is 71.08. It appears as a white crystalline powder or crystal, easily soluble in water, ethanol, acetone, and other polar solvents; slightly soluble in benzene. It is toxic (IARC classified as Class 2A probable carcinogen). The molecule contains double bonds (-CH=CH₂) and an amide group (-CONH₂), making it prone to homopolymerization or copolymerization reactions. It serves as the core monomer for synthesizing polymer compounds such as polyacrylamide (PAM) and acrylamide copolymers.
Liquid
Acrylamide liquid usually appears as a colorless or light yellow transparent liquid. It is an aqueous solution of acrylamide with a mass fraction of 50%. This liquid is soluble in water, acetone, ethanol, and other polar solvents but insoluble in benzene and other non-polar solvents. It remains stable at room temperature and in the dark; however, it can easily polymerize when exposed to melting points or ultraviolet light or under oxidation conditions.

Production of polyacrylamide
Acrylamide is polymerized to form polyacrylamide, which is used as a flocculant in water treatment, as a soil conditioner in agriculture, and as a friction reducer in the petroleum industry.
Production of acrylamide-based polymers
Acrylamide-based polymers are used in the production of paper, textiles, and plastics. They are also used in cosmetics, detergents, and personal care products.
Production of grouting agents
Acrylamide is used to produce grouting agents, which are used to stabilize soils and foundations in construction projects.

The use of acrylamide should be carried out in a ventilated place and avoid contact with skin and eyes. Respiratory protection should be worn when working with acrylamide to prevent workers from breathing vapours, mists or gases. When storing acrylamide, it should be stored in dry and ventilated airtight containers.
Storage Conditions of Acrylamide
Storage environment: Acrylamide should be stored in a ventilated, dry place away from heat and fire sources, preferably in a cool and dry place. It is recommended to use a safety cabinet specially designed for storing flammable liquids to ensure safety.
Temperature control: The storage temperature should be controlled within the range of 0~25℃, and high temperature environment should be avoided, because high temperature will accelerate the polymerization reaction of acrylamide. If the aqueous solution is stored, its pH value should be within the range of 5.5~6.5, and it should be monitored and adjusted over time.
